২৮ জুলাই ২০২৫ তারিখ রাতে সিলেট জেলার গোয়াইনঘাট উপজেলার পশ্চিম জাফলং ইউনিয়নের ৬নং ওয়ার্ডের প্রতাপপুর পুঞ্জিতে (প্রতাপপুর সীমান্ত বিজিবি ক্যাম্প সংলগ্ন) ভয়াবহ এক ঘটনা ঘটেছে। অজ্ঞাত দুবৃত্তরা লামা পুন্জির হেডম্যান রিসন কংওয়ান ও প্রতাপপুর পুঞ্জির অধিবাসী পরমা দিখারের পান জুমে হামলা চালিয়ে প্রায় ৩,০০০ পান গাছ কেটে ফেলেছে। ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত পানের গাছগুলো এই মাসেই উত্তোলনের উপযোগী ছিল এবং প্রতিটি গাছে গড়ে ৫৫০ টাকার পান ছিল, যার মোট বাজারমূল্য প্রায় ১৬ লাখ ৫০ হাজার টাকা। জানা যায়, বছরে পাঁচ থেকে ছয়বার পান সংগ্রহ করা গেলেও একটি জুম উৎপাদনে উপযোগী হতে প্রায় দুই বছর সময় লাগে। প্রতিটি জুমে ১৫-২০ জন কর্মী নিয়মিতভাবে কাজ করে এবং উৎপাদিত পানের আয় থেকে প্রায় ৭৫% অর্থ ব্যয় হয় এই শ্রমিক ও চাষ ব্যবস্থাপনার পেছনে। প্রতাপপুর পুঞ্জিতে প্রায় ২৫টি পরিবার এবং লামা পুঞ্জিতে ৪৭টি পরিবার বসবাস করে। দুই পুঞ্জিতে মোট জনসংখ্যা প্রায় ৪১০ জন, যাদের প্রধান জীবিকা পান ও সুপারি চাষ। এই আঘাত কেবল আর্থিক ক্ষতিই নয়, বরং একটি জাতিগত সম্প্রদায়ের জীবিকা, সংস্কৃতি এবং নিরাপত্তার উপর সরাসরি আঘাত। এলাকার হেডম্যানদের ভাষ্যমতে, “আগে...

আজ থেকে চাহিদা অনুযায়ী মিলবে তেল

মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে যুদ্ধ পরিস্থিতির কারণে দেশে পেট্রোল, অকটেন ও ডিজেল সরবরাহে যে সীমাবদ্ধতা আরোপ করা হয়েছিল, সরকার তা তুলে নেওয়ার ঘোষণা দিয়েছে। এখন থেকে দেশের সব পাম্পে চাহিদা অনুযায়ী জ্বালানি তেল পাওয়া যাবে। বিদ্যুৎ, জ্বালানি ও খনিজ সম্পদ প্রতিমন্ত্রী অনিন্দ্য ইসলাম অমিত জানিয়েছেন, চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরে কয়েকটি জ্বালানি তেলের জাহাজ পৌঁছেছে এবং ঈদযাত্রা ও বোরো মৌসুমে কৃষকদের চাহিদা বিবেচনায় এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। এর আগে তেলের ঘাটতির আশঙ্কায় ৬ মার্চ থেকে জ্বালানি বিক্রিতে সীমা নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছিল—যেমন মোটরসাইকেলের জন্য দিনে ২ লিটার, বাস বা ট্রাকের জন্য নির্দিষ্ট পরিমাণ ইত্যাদি। এখন সেই সীমা তুলে দেওয়ায় স্বাভাবিকভাবে প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী জ্বালানি কেনা যাবে।
